….As we moved deeper into the forest, I couldn’t help but notice that the air became suddenly weighted, and the feeling of eyes upon us appeared as if out of nowhere, but came from everywhere at once. The forest at once became silent, as if waiting for something, and we were nearly overcome with terror as a great shadow leapt among the trees, too fast for us to see. The first of us broke and ran, but the beast snatched them up with unnatural speed, and as it tore them apart it landed before us, hulking and terrible. Four legged, but seeming to be made of warped, twisted wood and thick brown leaves, with an unnaturally long neck and a long, pale face, two black coals for eyes burning with malice. Sure enough, a crackling laughter echoed amongst the trees, and we saw them–tall, thin figures with Ivorheart longbows drawn and white-shafted arrows pointing at us with pinpoint precision. Their skin a deep green, their eyes glowing silver–and out from among them, a figure walked out of the trees, stopping to stroke the long leaves of the vicious Spriggan that had wiped out my entire company.
There was no doubt. This was the Lady of the Forest….
